Major League Roller Hockey has announced that Chandler Holguin has accepted the position of MLRH Director of Scouting and Player Development for the MLRH Super League.

Holguin has served as the GM for the DC Filibusters. In making the announcement, MLRH President and Founder Bill Raue  said, “Chandler Holguin is the guy we need with the ability to reach out to both ice and roller hockey players. The job he has done with the Filibusters in just a short time tells me that he is the guy I have been looking for with the ability to connect with younger payers.”

The MLRH Super League is a “fan based” league with team playing “home and home” schedules not unlike established pro ice leagues.

Prior to accepting the position with MLRH, Holguin was assistant GM of the Pike’s Peak Vigilantes  in the Mountain West Hockey League. “The Mountain West has teams from Colorado to San Diego and Chandler understands the travel issues facing leagues like the MLRH Super League. Additionally, I joke that he is 21 going on 40,” said Raue. He has that rare ability to talk to 19 year old players or team owners with equal credibility.

The Super League has had some success in reaching out to junior ice players. “It is a different culture,” said Raue. “The Junior ice guys think nothing of riding the bus for 10 hours, playing a game and getting back on the bus. Too many roller players lack that kind of commitment. Some of them can’t decide if they want to play hockey or go to the movies on a Saturday night and you can’t build a league without commitment.”

Holguin’s primary responsibility will be developing talent for the Super League East Division. "I'm very excited to turn the MLRH Super League into the top place to play during the North American off season. When you think of competitive off season hockey, you’ve got three options and those are the Australian league, the New Zealand league, and the Super League. I want to take the Super League to the top.”

The MLRH Super League is attempting to establish parity
between the West and East Divisions. “We have great teams
in the West but not all of the East Division teams can match
up with the.” said Holguin. “My job is to fix that,”
