All-world roller hockey whiz kid, played little ice but trys Junior A in 2008 for the Yarmouth Mariners...led league with 41 goals and second with 85 points...offered scholarship to Division One Alaska Fairbanks but no longer eligible as he played in the ECHL for the Onrario Reign, making the team as a walk-on.
Father and brother in the movie business but if
somebody pitched the Itan story as a movie, nobody would believe it.
Chavira scores for the ECHL Ontario Reign
Chavira dazzles wherever he plays...
Just when you're ready to write off a "younger generation" as a bunch of self absorbed posers, along comes Itan Chavira with
a personality that charms the most cynical, and the killer instinct of an assassin with a hockey stick.
In his first ever MLRH game, Chavira's hat trick helped propel the Florida Fusion to a 12-3 thumping of the
Buffalo Wings. Later in the evening, he switched sweaters (and leagues) to help the Quebec Mustral to their first win over the league leading Miami Mambo in the Slamm Hockey TV Show..
If you are the last person on the planet not to know about Chavira, check out his YouTube videos.
The amazing thing about Chavira is that he does not seem to
be aware of the huge divide between ice and roller hockey.
Primarily, a southern California roller hockey guy, in just two years of serious ice hockey, he made the Ontario Reign of the ECHL as a walk on.--this in a league that is populated with players from Moose Jaw and Medicine Hat who have been skating since they were three-year olds.
