Saturday Night Crazyness
Mambo, LA and Motor City all finish the night 1-1.
Slamm Hockey's opening night at the Gardens Arena was a wild night with upsets, some big hits and a huge night from Stephanie Metcalf who tallied four goals to power the Motor City Hot Wheels to a 7-2 win over the Miami Mambo.
Metcalf''s record breaking performance could not have come at a better time as, earlier in the evening, they lost a 4-3 thriller to the La Cru. The Cru got on the board early on a goal from Emily Hall and each time the Wheels evened the score, Itan Chaviria found a way to put LA back on top with the game ending at 4-3.
Later in the evening, the Miami Mambo posted a 5-4 win over the Cru in another thrlller and then, when the Mambo were feeling pretty good abut themselves, Ms. Metcalf put a big hurt on the Mambo. For the record, it was the first hat trick by a woman in Slamm Hockey, much less a 4-goal game.
Metcalf, a former collage ice hockey star at Colorado, has made a very nice transition to playing on wheels. In 2004, she was named the best woman in women's ice hockey and selected as a first team all-star.
